The former special effects expert Rollie Tyler has transitioned into a toy maker. Mike, the ex-husband of Rollie's girlfriend Kim, works as a police officer. When Mike requests Rollie's assistance in capturing a murderer, their plan unfolds smoothly until an unidentified individual eliminates both the murderer and Mike. Despite Mike's superior, Silak, insisting that the killer was responsible for Mike's death, Rollie is convinced otherwise. It becomes clear that Silak is implicated in the incident, prompting Rollie to seek help from Leo McCarthy, a former police officer turned private investigator from the previous film. Together, they uncover that the threat extends beyond just Silak.
