During World War II in Borneo, an American soldier manages to survive the execution of his fellow soldiers by Japanese forces. He eventually rises as the dominant figure among the headhunters, forming his own empire. This gripping war narrative is reminiscent of the storytelling styles of Joseph Conrad and Rudyard Kipling. Initially hesitant to reenter the conflict against the Japanese, the American is persuaded by a British commando team. However, he ultimately seeks revenge when the Japanese threaten the community he has come to protect.
